What is DeskOrg?

A lightweight Windows app that keeps your desktop tidy — automatically.

DeskOrg sorts the files cluttering your desktop into neat category folders (documents, images, installers, and more) using rules you control. It can run on demand with one click, or quietly in the background so new files get filed the moment they land. Everything runs locally on your PC — nothing is uploaded anywhere.

🧹

One-click cleanup

Sort a messy desktop into folders instantly with “Organize Now”.

🤖

Smart automation

A background watcher files new items for you, hands-free.

🛡️

Safe & yours

Signed code, local-only, with rules and protected file types you set.

Quick start

Three steps and you’re done.

1

Open DeskOrg

Double-click the DeskOrg icon on your desktop (or find it in the Start Menu). A short splash appears, then the Control Center opens.

2

Go to Organize → Organize Now

This sorts the files on your desktop into category folders using your current rules. That’s the core of DeskOrg.

(Optional) Turn on automation

Want it hands-free? Enable Smart Automation so new files are filed automatically in the background.

The Control Center, section by section

Five tabs down the left side of the window.

01

Overview

Your home dashboard — a quick welcome and the current status of your setup (rules, automation, logs).

02

Organize

Organize Now runs the cleanup. You can also open your Windows Desktop folder or the DeskOrg application folder from here.

03

Smart Automation

Install/enable the background watcher, check its status, disable it, or uninstall automation. Use this if you want filing to happen automatically.

04

Rules & Settings

Edit your saved rules (which file types go into which folder), open the application folder, and refresh the status shown on the home screen.

05

Activity & Logs

Open the DeskOrg log to see what was moved, and confirm the organizer and automation scripts are present.

Good to know

Tip: Run “Organize Now” once to see how your desktop gets sorted, then tweak the rules to taste before turning on automation.

Having trouble installing?

Because DeskOrg uses a self-made signature, Windows may show a caution the first time.

If the installer was blocked or didn’t finish, open the Setup Help page (it’s in your Start Menu under DeskOrg, or shipped next to the installer) — it lists the common reasons (SmartScreen, the Yes/No security prompt, antivirus) and the one-click fix for each.
